The Philip Paul Power Trio !!!

Philip Paul was the "go to" studio drummer at King Recording Studio from 1951 to 1964, right after moving to Cincinnati from Harlem. During that time, he created the Afro-Caribbean beat for "The Twist" and was on the original recording by Hank Ballard & The Midnighters, along with most of Hank's other hits like "Let's Go, Let's Go, Let's Go".  He was Freddy King's drummer on nearly all of his hits, including "Hideaway" and "Tore Down".  He was also on the original recordings of Little Willie John's "Fever" and Charles Brown's "Please Come Home for Christmas", among many others.

“If someone were to try to isolate the single heartbeat of the early days of rock and roll, as it transitions from ‘race music’ to ‘rhythm & blues’ to whatever you want to call what early rock and roll is, that heartbeat is Philip,” - Rock and Roll Hall of Fame & Museum president Terry Stewart.

The Philip Paul Power Trio features Noah Wotherspoon on guitar and Wade Baker on bass.  Noah's personal band recently made the finals in the 2012 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN, USA and was the overwhelming crowd favorite in the finals.  Wade Baker toured with the Jon Justice Band for several years, but is primarily known as a jazz trumpeter.  Both of them are young, high energy artists.
